The Greenwood-Grenada (MS) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., utilizes Robert’s Rules of Order to ensure effective and efficient meetings. These guidelines provide structure and fairness, allowing every member’s voice to be heard while fostering respectful and orderly discussions.

Purpose and Benefits:

• Maintain organized and focused chapter meetings.

• Provide clear guidance for parliamentary procedures.

• Ensure transparency and fairness in decision-making processes.

Key Components of Robert’s Rules:

• Agenda Setting: Clearly outlined agenda distributed before meetings.

• Quorum: The minimum number of members required to conduct official business.

• Motions: Procedure for proposing actions, including:

  • Making a motion

  • Seconding a motion

  • Discussion and debate

  • Voting (voice vote, roll call vote, or ballot)

• Debate and Discussion: Structured opportunities for members to express viewpoints.

• Voting: A transparent and equitable decision-making process.

• Minutes: Accurate recording and distribution of meeting discussions and decisions.

Member Responsibilities:

• Familiarize yourself with basic parliamentary procedures.

• Respect the speaking order and avoid interrupting.

• Articulate motions and amendments.
